Vibe coding is building software by directing AI with words instead of code.

In practice, that often means: one moment a little to the left, then almost to the right, followed by "can you make this look better?" and hop, there is something on the screen.

To be fair: it often looks pretty good.

But under the hood, a time bomb is ticking.

Software without a foundation

What I see now: no solid architecture, no security-by-design, no WCAG 2.1, no idea what data does or where it goes. Unreliable packages, installed blindly. Tools completely built in a single file. One. File. Bizarre.

The creators often don't know which packages are safe, which require maintenance, which will be abandoned in two months, or which licenses are actually used.

But hey, it works, right?

Yes. Until it doesn't. Or until you get hacked. Or until your data ends up on the street.

App stores full of vibecoded trash

This is only the beginning.

App stores are going to flood with thousands, maybe millions of small vibecoded SaaS solutions. Microtools. One-trick ponies. Soon, an app for every little thing.

There are millions of young guys worldwide who are going to do this now. Simply because they can. They build. Fast. A lot. Cheaply.

Some will do it well. But the vast majority? A disaster in production.

And now you: how will you buy software in the future?

AI has mastered marketing. It knows exactly how to market a product and uses precisely the right words to convince you. If necessary, AI will make up features just to get you onboarded.

How are you as an organization going to determine whether software is secure? Whether it is future-proof? Whether it complies with EU legislation? Who is liable if things go wrong?

How do you judge quality in a market flooded with trash?

The value of engineering is disappearing

If anyone can build software, what is the value of engineering anymore? Not the code. Not the features. Not the number of screens.

That market is dying. Slowly. And soon, ever faster.

This is my vision of what lies ahead

I think we are moving towards something fundamentally different.

No software that you buy. No SaaS that you maintain. No updates. No roadmaps.

Instead: software that is made in the moment.

You have data. You ask a question. And at that exact moment, the precise application you need is generated. Are you done? Then that software disappears again.

No maintenance. No attack surface. No legacy. No bloated features. Exactly what you need — nothing more, nothing less.

Perplexity can already do this. You upload a timesheet, ask questions, and a mini-app is created in real time.

This is not going to end well

This tsunami is going to be massive. And so will the damage.

Even mature organizations struggle with controlling AI. Medical data, patient records, and personnel data simply end up on the street.

And what do you think will happen with millions of micro-SaaS apps lacking mature expertise...
